The President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic praised the level of security at the World Cup after arriving in Sochi on Saturday ahead of her country’s quarterfinal clash with Russia.

“With these fan IDs not only can you move around freely but it allows for a level of security that I have not experienced at any championships so far,” she said.

She pointed out that she was a huge football fan and was a passionate supporter of her country’s national side, which boasts the likes of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic.

Grabar-Kitarovic added that Russia have ‘a great team’ after seeing them beat Spain in the Round of 16.

The Croatian President arrived in Sochi for official talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and other officials, although she will be casting a keen eye over proceedings on the pitch too.
